CONSEQUENCES FOR INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIORS
Students who choose to disregard school rules may be written up on a Student Discipline Report by a yard duty supervisor or a teacher. A copy of this report will be given to the principal, the classroom teacher, and the parent. The parent should sign to indicate they have seen it, and it should be returned to school the next day. Consequences for receiving a Student Discipline Report during each quarter of the school* year, will be as follows:
- First Infraction:
- The student will receive a warning and could lose privileges or be sent to the principal for disciplinary action, depending on the severity of the infraction**. Principal, classroom teacher and parents will receive notification. Failure to bring Discipline Report with parent signature the following day will result in loss of recess privileges until note is returned.
- Second Infraction:
- The student could lose privileges or be sent to the principal for disciplinary action, depending on the severity of the infraction**. The student will be reported to the principal, the classroom teacher, and parent will be notified by principal by phone. Student will spend 15 minutes after school or lose recess privileges. Parents should return discipline notice to school signed the next day to indicate support of school policies.
- Third Infraction:
- The student could lose privileges or be sent to the principal for disciplinary action, depending on the severity of the infraction**. The student will be reported to the principal, the classroom teacher, and parent will be notified by phone. A conference will be scheduled to discuss a plan for changing the inappropriate behavior. The student will spend 30 minutes after school or lose recess privileges. Parent should return discipline notice to school signed the next day to indicate support of school policies.
- Fourth Infraction:
- The student could lose recess privileges or be sent to the principal for disciplinary action, depending on the severity of the infraction**. A Student/Parent/Teacher conference will be arranged by the principal and an appropriate consequence will be determined (i.e., possible suspension).
**Some infractions of rules, such as rules pertaining to fighting, bringing weapons, threats and serious disturbance to the educational environment could be cause for automatic suspension.
